UPDATE: Tsunami warning issued after 7.7 magnitude earthquake strikes off B.C. coast
A powerful 7.7 magnitude earthquake has shaken the north-central coast of British Columbia in the Haida Gwaii area.
The quake was felt across a wide area that includes Prince Rupert, Quesnel, and Houston.
The Geological Survey of Canada says a tsunami warning has been issued from the north tip of Vancouver Island to Alaska, but so far there have been no reports of damage.
